'86 '87 740 Engine harness interchangeable???? Help!!! 700

Been there done exactly that!!! It's gonna work except for the following. a) Need to modify connector to temperature gauge.1) 86 one connector,87 two connectors 2)you will have an extra wire connector by the ignition coil side. You don't need this for an '86. 3) very important!!! CHECK the color code sequence of both the TPS and Idle motor connectors from the '86 vs. the '87.In my case the wiring sequence on the '87 was different and it drovr me nuts for two months (high idle) until my volvo guru discovered and corrected it.Email Dave Barton and ask for my report on the matter..Good luck and have fun!!
