So... I have an '81 DL which hasn't really been driven in almost 2 years... When I got it, it wasn't running--I worked on it enough to get it running (new battery, changed fluids, cleaned stuff... etc.), but since then it's stopped completely... when I jump it, it starts then dies as soon as the cables are disconnected. I think the problem is w/ the alternator, which I plan on replacing. And aside from that, does anyone know of any fix-ups, or ANYTHING I should be doing to get it into reasonably good condition (I don't care about looks, just want it to run smoothly). I don't have enough money to spend on a mechanic or getting a new car (which some friends have suggested as opposed to even bothering with this one), or expensive parts... so everything will be DIY. I'd really appreciate any advice on this!!
