If it wouldn't start and later it would start it points to battery cable
terminal problems. Some kinds of corrosion seem to leave a semiconductive
film between the battery post and the terminal. I've seen it form in a matter
of a few seconds. Also worth looking at will be the terminals on the other
end of the battery and ground cables, particularly the strap between the
engine and the frame.
