very thorough explanation...

I think I'm gonna test my old defroster and if it works replace the glass...

if it doesn't I'll get the 3rd light kit and use it (hopefully the resistance is the same so the bulb failure sensor doesn't sense some problem!)

it sounds like repair of the defroster can be quite tricky, is there enough paint in the "Quick Grid" kit to paint every line all the way across? thereby assuring all the potential "breaks" are covered?
