balljoint replacement... how long can I hold out? 700

Things that will cause a balljoint to fail suddenly include potholes,
parking lot stops, curbs, etc. Really hard braking might also be
problematic. If you aren't getting squeaks or groans from it you
might smear some heavy grease into the boot and get it fixed as soon
as convenient. I guess they haven't started salting the roads up there
yet....?

From your description it is not an emergency yet but will eventually
turn into one.
