960 Transmission...Do I need a new one??

My 92 965 hunts between 3rd, 4th, and OD between 35 and 45. Was driving me crazy so I disconneded the SL solenoid at the TCM. I like the way it drives. ECM has 332 code set but no error ligth. When I get the time I am going to add a switch that will allow me to run Normal, OFF, or engage at highway speeds on my command.

I would like to get my hands on a "bad" SL solenoid so that I look for any obvious defects. Could it be bad O-rings?
