Problem with my cassette player, no go.

Based on my experiences with failed Volvo radios:

The cassette problem could be the problem that I had with the radio in the '87, which turned out to be a spring that causes it to stop or reverse when the tape pulls too tight. I simply moved the spring to a different hole so that it 'pulled' harder, and it worked for several more years.

The speaker problem could be the problem that I have always had with the radio in the '91, which is the volume control potentiometer (spelling?). Every year or two when I get down to only having sound from one of my four speakers, I have to pull that radio out and clean the pot thoroughly with tuner cleaner.

The other posts were right. Buy a better radio. The ONLY reason that I fool with trying to keep mine working is to keep the dash looking original.
