Concerned synchros are failing

There are no grating noises in reverse (if I give it a couple seconds after putting clutch in or go 1st-reverse). I'm starting to like the idea of the stiff or seized flywheel-tranny input shaft bearing, because if I shift from 1st and wait in neutral a second or so before trying 2nd, it shifts fine. Would the flywheel slow down fast enough for this to be reasonable?
