At the green and white lead, connect a logic probe (you can make one by stringing together a 750 ohm resister and an LED) to the positive side of the battery. It should flash on and off @ equal intervals when the system is adjusted properly. If it's off be a lot, you may want to set the AMM itself. Unplug the harness going to it and check for resistance across pins 3 and 6. The factory baseline setting is ~380 ohms. You get a total of 30 turns of adjustment.
