What causes knocking?

I had the same problem with my 740ti, then I tried switching to high octane gaz with even octane boosters, around 100 octane..and the knocking stopped after that. Maybe it's not related with your problem, or you are already running on high octane gaz, but if not I think this might be worth a try.
