Compression Test -- which coil wire do I remove?

Last time I did a compression test (On a 1994 Rover 200 with an ECU and all kinds of fragile electrickery), I disconnected the 'king' lead from the coil and turned the engine over like that. No problems, and equal and high compressions on all cylinders!
