Are all J-type Overdrives basically the same? 120-130

Are all J-type Overdrives basically the same?

I want to rebuild a J-type overdrive using the front case from a ‘83 J OD with the ‘83 control/relief valve, and the rear case from a ‘73 J OD with the ‘73 cluth assembly. I’m planning to use one of IPD’s mini OD rebuild kits (which they state is for a ‘76-’93 J OD’s) to replace the needed o-rings, gaskets, and stuff. Can anyone see a problem doing this?

I have two J OD’s. The ‘83 has a very bad rear bearing, and the ‘73 has something wrong with the control/relief valve system. My understanding is that the OD’s parts are interchangable. Any comments/warnings?

Thanks-

Paul
