If you consider it for a minute, you can't thread your spark plugs past a certain point. I guess you could thread them until they ate the head, but that would be another problem entirely, and they wouldn't make any appreciable headway into the engine regardless of your attempts.
It doesn't hurt to put in new plugs with new wires (if you didn't do that, I mean). Make sure the tips of the plugs are the ones that fit the spark plug boots. (with the tops removed or in place, either way).
