That is much closer to wholesale than anything. Most of the body shop catalogs list it for like $47 or whatever it is, as I recall. Maybe even around $50. After all, they're making money on it already.

People get down on IPD for gouging for prices. They have a good catalog and a nice website. In my opinion, you pay for those niceties, and I have paid for them before (and will pay for them again as well).

fcpgroton.com has good prices and more bare-bones website, but whatever. You don't pay for luxuries, and they DO get the stuff out on time! I really appreciate that choice, and I just got a big box o' stuff from fcpgroton.com last week. In fact, they are LESS, sometimes, than some of the wholesale supply places. Makes sense to buy there.

Having said all of this, there are still places that overpaid for parts, or that would rather not sell a piece, instead of selling it at a substandard markup (for them). I don't understand that kind of thinking, but it isn't like they were asking $70 and you could pick them up that day, with no shipping charge, or something like that. They are charging a whole $110 for the part, and at more than 100% more, that is not a very good price.

The funny thing that goes on in aftermarket wars is that the dealers finally lose SO many sales of parts because the aftermarket kills them, that often they match their price to suit the aftermarket ones. What I mean is, for example, a dealer might ask $220 for a mirror for a 95 Camry. But the aftermarket is making them (unpainted) for only $70. Now, the dealer is losing their ass on mirrors, since people break them all the time. So, sooner or later the dealer network drops the price to $70, and gets a lot of business on mirrors.

The BEST part is, the used places are often still charging 1/2 of new DEALER retail, so you'll still get gouged $120 for a crappy used mirror that you can get BRAND NEW from the dealer, for only $70.

The bottom line? It pays to shop EVERY available place, because you will almost fall over when you start to find out the variety of prices.
