advice please

thankjs for the response.
The engine seems to idle fine, with the clutch in, revs fine.In gear no power, max speed seems to be about 30, then it sputters and wants to die. Let it sit for 5 min., runs again for a few min.Thats why my trip last night (20 mile trip) took 40 min.
"such that it would wind up to a high RPM if you kept it in low gear"
This describes it pretty well.High revs , no power.
Any help appreciated. Thanks
