PCV plumbing

Why would you want to eliminate the hose to the Manifold? My 89 Turbo came with the hose from the factory (hose says volvo on it). So I assume it should be there. Is that diagram correct in the FAQ that shows turbos capped correct?

Isn't the purpose of the hose the same as in NA cars - to provide vacuum to the pcv system at idle and no boost when the throttle is closed?
