I don't agree, just from anecdotal evidence from various friends who own the cars. There is the expectation that Volvo should be about as cheap as an American car: when it doesn't turn out that way, people then claim it's too expensive.

Mercedes and BMW owners expect to pay more, so they don't complain when they do.
