rubber windshield gasket? 140-160 1968

As far as I'm aware there is no such thing aas an 8 piece trim for a rubber sealed windscreen. The later trim won't work, it's just a finisher held onto the body by metal clips.

You're more likely to bend the ally trim removing it than fitting it. I'd cut the screen and trim off the old rubber with a Stanley knife, especially if you're re-using the glass.

The thing about fitting the trim is this; it's held by a flap on the rubber that lies in the same plane as the glass. You bring this proud by fitting a cord into it. You then start with the ally trim lying flat on the glass, and pull it twards the outside of the car so it engages in the rubber flap. Obviously you start to fit it by fitting it from one of the two ends. It ehgages fully once you withdraw the string. If you move the trim in a direction where its bending, you're doing it drastically wrong!

Make no mistake this job can be deeply fustrating, but becomes easier with a bit of practice and applied intelligence. feel free to email me for further instructions/clarification. Or a ticket with and board and lodgings to California wouldn't go amiss this time of year;-)

Regards

Pete
