Glad to hear you solved your problem. I replied to your original message around Dec. 3 as claim to be "seem to have the same problem". I was able to fix mine as well. Mine was not the converter. It turned out to be a broken wire inside the plug that connects to the airmeter. I could affect the engines performance just by touching the plug. Anyway, I would recommend that you have your exhaust gases analyzed before you replace the converter. When I did the same on my Audi (remove the insides), it tested just fine. Same readings as before. These cars, when propoerly tuned, have great results.
