There is enough room. Incidentally there used to be oversize studs available, where the serrated bit that engages in the hub is oversize if the hole has been damaged. The special tool also presses the stud out. They're not that hard to remove. Try it without geting too violent. Nothing stopping you disassembling if it doesn't work.
