Get the 760t

I would go for the 760 turbo. Just to correct some errors in prev. posts:

*The 760 turbo does not use the same 6-cylinder as the NA 760, it uses the tried-and-true, tough as nails B230FT 4-cylinder as the 740 turbo. The 760t has more power equipment and options than the 740, and starting in '88 the sedans had IRS.

*The interior plastics in '88 and later 760s do not share the same problems with cracking as the plastics in older 760s and 740s. The 760 line got a redesigned interior that year which included reformulated plastics.

The 760t will be quieter, smoother, and more refined than the 240, and the difference in mileage is negligible; both will go for 300,000 miles+ if maintained properly. Also, the 240, being an '87, would have had an engine wiring harness prone to deterioration; if it hasn't been replaced already it will probably need to be.

Don't underestimate the appeal of the turbo, either--once you drive one you'll never want to go back to the NA B230. The extra power is really nice, esp. on the highway--you actually have passing power!

All this of course assumes that none of the cars have any hidden mechanical problems that would require expensive repairs early on. The 760 uses Nivomat self-leveling shocks on the back wich are great but might need replacing, and they aren't cheap. Still, I think it's a better car all around. Read the FAQ for a lot more info on the 740 & 760 series. Good luck!
