I had similar issue with a new battery on a 240 last summer. The AutoZone guy said the car had "reverse" battery cables and therefore needed a "FORD-type" battery. I have never heard of this, but I have never owned a Ford! The guy went to a rack of "F-type" batteries behind the counter, matched my size/amps/etc., and the "reversed" cables fit perfectly.
