Bolts right in. Don't worry about connecting anything up. Everything you need has a place to go. Save all your sensors from your block, and screw them in to the appropriate place on the B230. They're really close to the same. If you find one that's later than 1989, you'll need to remove the crank trigger pickup (speed sensor) on the back of the head, and use an appropriate distributor with the hall effect device in it. You can of course put your '83 dist in the newer block. I think that most of the sensors are actually the same part, as long as you use an 85-88 engine. You'll see when you unhook things. Of course, you may decide that it's easier to get a good 85-88 CAR for only a little more, and save your back and knuckles... I know, sentimental value and all, but I've got an 87 I'd be happy to sell you for $1000... and it doesn't have any "issues" besides a minor front end clunk (think it needs struts).
Your choice! You do get a cool black valve cover with the B230, so that's a plus...
