Takes two people. A watcher sitting in the driver's seat, and a do-er under the hood. Do-er should find exciter wire on alternator rear, the thin red one, pull it off and ground it.

Watcher then turns key to Position II (bulb test position) and check idiot lights. Gounded wire means lights on. Ungrounded should turn lights off.

If that's what you get, put in new brushes.
