WHICH temperature sensor? Aren't there two or maybe three? 200 1989

Not familiar with the 200 NA engine, but often on Bosch FI engines and cars with temp gauges there can be one sender for the engine temp gauge, another sender or switch for the cold start, and yet another NTC (negative temperature coefficient) temp sender for the ECU.

You didn't describe the conditions of the cold start, what, slow cranking, crank 4-5 times (normal) and then fire, or crank for 10-20 times and then start and run poorly for awhile, or what?

A leaking induction system, as someone said, often contributes to poor cold start although IMHO on FI engines without chokes it's irrelevant...the injectors pour fuel into the ports and it's irrelevant how the air gets there until the engine starts although there is somewhat of a choking action with the closed throttle butterfly.
