Without going into all the gory details, I'm now starting to belive the hall effect sensor is slowly but surely crapping out and this is what is causing my poor hot starts and crazy idle. I think I'm going to try alloemvolvoparts "housing kit" which gives you a new base plate with a new sensor riveted on it. You just have to swap the shaft and washers from the old distributor.
