Yes, that Positioni II is sometimes called the "Bulb Test Position". The oil pressure light is a little different from the others, is it out also?

That one, and the others, all are related to the wiring harness that goes under the front of the engine. If the oil light wire (black) is not connected to anything, you get nothing. If it is gounded, the light is on. Ground that wire and go look.

The other lights, the ones that go out when the engine begins to run, have another system to make them go out. It requires the thin red wire on the back of the alternator to work properly.

With the engine stopped, that wire provides the ground side for all those light. The circuit flows through the alternator brushes to the alternator frame and then through a ground wire from the alt. frame to the block.

You can check this by grounding that wire and then looking at the lights.

When the alternator begins spinning, the small voltage coming from the lights in that red wire becomes the exciter voltage needed on the rotor to generate electricity. So, if you never get the lights, you may not be charging, either.

So check the oil wire and the alt. wire, and post back. There is a cheap fix, probably. BTDT
