Flame Trap Relocation, K-Jet 200

Regarding 1981 242 K-jet: I'm rerouting the flame trap lines for easier access. The large hose that comes off the large nipple on the flame trap and goes to the air intake below the bellows doesn't seem to want to come off. Is there some trick here I'm missing? It apparently does not slide over a nipple on the air intake because I can pinch and squeeze it right up to where it enters the intake piece. Any ideas?
