Which fuel pump is causing the problem? 700 1986

Your quickest and easiest diagnostic is to resolder your fuel pump relay. It's known to cause symptoms just as you describe. Cost $0, 15 minutes, no risk, clean 'n easy work.

If it helps nothing then you've spent nothing.

Resolder your OD relay, too.

When my wife's '91 740 stalled at roadside, I towed it home and resoldered EVERY relay I could find, including those underhood.

Your symptom could also be the hall effect sensor in the distributor.
