Generator life expectancy? 700 1988

“it will last the life of the car” How long is that? My Volvo 740 Gl 1988 is rust free and drives well has done 140,000 miles and I look after it well, run on synthetic engine oil, have changed the manual gearbox oil and back axel oil, change the brake fluid every 2 years.
