That's what I'm saying. The brake lights run through this Failure sensor too. I had no brakelights for I don't know how long. Power runs from the brake switch through the sensor and ...nothing out the other side. No dashboard warning light either. So Volvo's brilliant idea to light up the dashboard when a bulb fails is snafued when the sensor craps out 'cause now you have no lights and no warning about it.
This Red Can has about 12 wires going into it. Sections of this can can fail mine was the brakelight section. yours MIGHT be headlights. Power for the headlights go in and two wires come out for each headlight. If there is too much of a difference in the current from one headlight wire to the other it will detect on bulb is out...Dashboard light indicates Bulb Out. If the sensor is bad, power for the Headlights goes in..NOTHING comes out. No headlights..no Dashboard light. Not too smart. I jumped out my Brakelights from the Sensor. I rather have 1 burnt out bulb then none working for me.
