Can't find a 940, what about a 240 wagon?

The 740/940 is slightly wider but slightly lower-roofed inside than a 240. (On second thought, if the 240 has a sun roof, there might not be that much difference in head room.) If you're taller than about 6'-3", you might want a 240 without the sun roof. If you sit three adults in the back seat very often, go with the 740/940.

I've owned both a 240 and a 740. I don't think I can agree with the claim that the 240 is any easier to work on. As others have mentioned, the 240 has a little beefier feel to it. It kind of has a little more "solid-built" feeling. In the 740/940, you'll sit slightly lower to the road, but on long hauls, it's a little nicer to drive.

You're likely to find used parts commonality across more years with the 240 than with the 740/940.

You might want to lay the back seats flat in both models and measure cargo areas. That could have an influence on your decision.

Take your time in shopping. The right car will come along. Good luck!
