i've tried before going at low speed, you need to press the button to shift.
at least for my AW7x-L transmission, there are 3 'levels' for the button.
To shift into P from R, you need to press it all the way down.
To shift into R from P or N you have to press it all the way down.
To shift into N from R or P, you don't need to press it (it's held partially down already.)
To shift into D from N or 2, you don't need to press it (it's held partially down already.)
To shift into 2 from D, you don't need to press it (it's held partially down already.)
To shift into 2 from 1, you don't need to press it (it's held all the way down already.)
To shift into 1 from 2, you need to press it all the way down.
So basically, if you're driving along, you can move freely between N, D, and 2 without pressing the button. Reverse should be locked out unless you press the button. Might want to get that fixed.
edit: might be different on a 200 but I don't see why it would be... same transmission me thinks.
