I don't know about your guy, but the shop that replaced the windshield on our '90 turbo told me he does not remove the cowl or the trim when he does a 740 windshield.

I think that he is telling me the truth because I had removed the cowl to fasten the screen in it with zip ties as the screen fell off our '88's cowl. I asked him if he wanted me to leave the cowl off and he told me that it did not matter to him because he does not remove the cowl or the trim.
