Broken Hood release cable fix?

New hood cable.

Alternatively, depending on where the break is located, you can try to repair your cable. I am currently attempting this and cannot yet provide long term results. Basically, you go to the hardware store and buy a 1/16 inch or similar very small cable or wire ferrule for about 25 cents. Then you buy some 16 gauge stainless wire and join it to the old wire using the ferrule. This works if you have the break in a convenient to access place. In my case, the break was at the furthest hood release (passenger side) on my 89 745T. I cut the wire back about a foot and made the connection there.
