A thank you note:

Four days ago I bought my first Volvo, a lovely 1994 940 wagon, non-turbo, 112k. Your help so far includes: A) Very sensible advice on whether I should get a brick in the first place. B) Very helpful advice on models and years. C) Explaining how the wiper washer stalk works, so that I could then D) diagnose and replace the little diaphragm on the T connector (squirts now!). While under the hood I was worried about the poor (22 mpg) highway mileage so I checked the plugs which were worn out to .054! So I put in the E) copper-not-platinum basic Bosches and ... the idle smoothed out, the shift into second gear smoothed out, and it shows 3000 RPM at 70mph instead of 2800 with the old plugs (no I don't understand that, but my gas needle doesn’t seem to drop so fast now).

I just want to thank everyone involved with making this marvelous Brickboard run! – Larry C, often known as canoelac.
