The Volvo one will fit. But it will take some work.
The 740 engine has the distributor on the back of the head. This will not fit in a 240 shell. So what you have to do is find a 240 with LH and pull the intermidiate shaft and the block mounted distributor and have it installed on the 740 engine, then seal off the rear distributor location with a plate from a 240.
I suggest you have both cars side by side and the 740 car be complete. You will want to take all the wiring from the 740. Making the wiring will be a pain. So you'll need the wiring, the fuel pumps, the computers, the AMM, etc etc.
What year is the 740 and what year is the 240? If you have matching LH systems, your 240 may be able to supply the distributor and intermidiate shaft.
If your car (the 240) is pre-86, I might suggest you find a B21FTi from a 240 turbo. Or just find a turbo car and sell yours.
I swapped a 240 Turbo engine into my 79 242GT. I went with a programable fuel injection system. That made installation way easier.
Good luck
