Euro headlights for pre-'86 240s

I assume the H1/H1 have two lamps in each unit like having quad sealed-beam lights, and the H4 has only one lamp and is like having two headlamps instead of four. Is one better than the other?

I remember looking at pictures of European 240s with those lights thinking how cool they looked and wondered why none of the 240s here in the USA had them. And dig those headlamp wipers!
