Rust 700

Highly unlikely, since none of these cars will ever log 500,000 miles. :-)

As you probably know, rust is a very common problem with '80s Volvos, but supposedly the undercoating was improved circa '86/'87. IIRC, there is a section of the (absolutely invaluable) 700/900 FAQ that addresses this issue. Depending on how serious the rust is, you may get away with just sanding it down and covering with POR-15. More serious cases call for welding in new steel (usually floorpans).
