George,
I know that there are various bits and pieces that go with the hoses, though I haven't identified them all yet. I know there is a wad of crinkly brass in the oil filler cap ( I think of it as a pot scrubber), but when you refer to "breather box" I assume you mean the teardrop shaped gizmo attached to the block. You mean that the little pipe sticking out of that is supposed to be stuffed with something similar?
