'Harvesting' an '86 245 200 1986

I have an '86 245 with 230k kilometers that is getting rustier with the winter and starting to have a variety of quirky probs. so I'm looking for a newer wagon (seem to be focusing on 95-96 850's right now)for a more predictable replacement. My '86 would have to be sold "as-is" due to fail on eTest, and it would require a few hundred $ to safety I think. If I can only get maybe C$1000 or so to sell it privately as is, would it be a better option to "harvest" some of the good parts and try to sell them on their own (locally, or eBay maybe?), and then send the rest to the wrecker? I'd appreciate hearing from anyone who has done this, re. what parts are most desireable, and what are reasonable to get at for a person with basic shop tools, and basic knowledge. I could box up parts and hold on to them for a while. It has lots of good interior parts, and engine is basically strong. Thanks for ideas.
