Both non intercooled and intercooled 240 turbos are much faster than the non turbos. Intercooled 240 turbos turned 0-60 times in the 7.5 to 8.5 second range for manual trans cars, but were up to 1.5 seconds slower in automatic form. In the quarter mile, intercooled 240 turbos ran in the 15.5 to 16.5 second range with trap speeds from about 84 to 89 mph. Automatics were about a second slower and also a few mph less in trap speed. Non intercooled cars were about 1 to 1.5 seconds slower to 60 mph. In the quarter mile, they were also about a second slower, with trap speeds ranging from about 77 to 82 mph. A non turbo 240 of the same era, whether with the B21 or B23 or B230, probably would not break 10 seconds to 60 mph, even with a manual trans, and the automatics were slower. In the quarter mile, a non turbo 240 would probably take over 17.5 seconds with a trap speed of 75 mph or less. These times are based on my recollection of magazine figures for the 240T and non turbo. I used to have the Road and Track and Car and Driver books on the Volvos.

114 hp with 135 lbs of torque just does not move 2900 to 3100 lbs plus driver very fast. 127 hp, with a nice increase in torque, does better. 160 hp with 180 lbs of torque does pretty well. 200 hp is where the fun begins, in my opinion, and 240 hp is pretty entertaining.
