A couple things came up in the last week that I had questions about.
#1: When changing the heater fan last week, I was trying to get the bottom most vent part off the heater core assembly so I could drop the unit and get the fan out. When doing so, I noticed that this bottom part that directs the floor air slides fore and aft... but doesn't come out inless it is slid farther than these two positions. Thing is, it seems if I slide the unit to one position, it cuts out the heat to teh rear seats. The other position allows air to flow back there (through the vents over the tunnel). I've never heard anything of this, and I'm wondering if the exhaust leak got to my head, or...? This is not the case on my '72 164, nor is it the case on my previously owned '71 wagon. I think I must be high, but....?
#2: When did they start putting the heavy steel side impact protection bars in the doors? I had previously though that all 140 and later cars (excpet 1800/122) had those in there, but in removing the door panel for an adjustment, I notice there ain't no bar in my door. Bummer.
Just curious....
Thanks,
Matt
Oh, and...cdu... you mentioned last week you were needing heater fan rubber motor mounts... I havn't sourced new ones, but... I've got an old mounting bracket with good mounts. Drop me an email if interested... matt@metricsucks.com
