Flames! Flames! 200 1979

The trick with the '64 Corvair also worked on a '56 Ford with the big V8. Except the Ford had dual exhausts so I got double barrel flames. And some really fine BANG.

Flames on a continuous basis are probably from a carburator car with a really juiced engine and a free-flow air path. When you floor it, the exhaust is hot enough when it exits the tailpipe, and has enough unburned gas still in it, that the mix reignites when it hits fresh air. Just a guess.

But if you have a catalyst, it will either burn off any extra gas or die trying.

How about flames painted on the fenders?
