The ES never had the V-O-L-V-O letters spaced across the center of the rear panel -- the last year for that was on the '71 coupe.

In the North American market, there's a one-piece VOLVO emblem on the left side of the panel. The left edge of the first V is about 3/4" from the left taillight, with the tops of the letters just very slightly below the horizontal center of the light. The 1800ES shield is just to the right of that emblem, less than 1/2" separating the two, and the center of the 1800 characters are centered on the VOLVO letters.
