My 87 has been tapping and slapping for, at least, the last 40,000 mi(currently
166,000). I recently put in a AW72L. Now she runs like a banshee rocket. Tapping and slapping and everything.

Ive had it checked, and checked to see what the slapping and tapping is all about. The answer: nothing much. Drive it like you hate it. It will serve you well. Just make sure you change your oil, fix whatever breaks, or is about to break.
