The problem is that the VW programmable intermittent wiper relay has a different pinout arrangement than the wiper relay used in the 700 series; it won't fit. It will fit the 850s, however; IPD even sells it as a replacement for the 850 wiper relay.

I had one installed in an '81 Rabbit pickup I used to have; was a drop-in there and worked quite nicely.

I've been considering tracing wiring diagrams & trying to "reverse engineer" things to see if / how an adapter could be made & installed in my 740, but have had other demands on my time lately...
