You are also right that rotting hoses are a serious hazard.
You can spray a LOT of gasoline in a short time at 28 psi.
I know of a guy that had it spray on a halogen shop light
and suffered from the resulting burns for over a year, never
fully recovered the use of his hands but died from other causes.

Moral: DON'T put a halogen shop light where something can
spray on it, ESPECIALLY gasoline.
