Noisy engine 700 1988

Hi Steven

Had a thought that the noise you are describing may be the water pump. My 740 was making a similar mystery noise and after weeks of listening and fiddling I happened to grab the fan (engine off of course!) and wiggle the blades back and forth and bingo, I could feel shot bearings. Replaced the pump and no more noise. Perhaps your 1600 has a similar problem. Hope this helps. Regards, Pete
