Engine light on 900 1993

With respect to the code, it would be a big help if you could list the codes (if you are the one who is pulling them, that is).

The intermittent no-start when cold sounds suspicious. If it is a matter of resetting the HT lead to the cap, then a cap, rotor, and wire replacement would definitely be in order because somehing is wrong with one of them.

The other thing that comes to mind is this: Because the HT lead passes right around the vicinity of a big wiring harness, and specifically the crankshaft sensor wire, it could be that you're constantly jarring that sensor back to life. For $35 it is worth the fix to see if it eliminates the problem. They do have a finite lifespan, usually because of corrosion or metal buildup on the sensor, or because the wiring itself degrades.
